Our Story

The monarch butterfly. Its scientific name literally means transformation. To many people, a monarch butterfly sighting is a sign of an upcoming change or a new direction in their life.

This ability to transform is the basis for our organization's name, Monven Group; MON represents “monarch," and VEN represents "ventures."

We are an ever transforming organization. At one time owning a single Burntwood Tavern restaurant in Chagrin Falls, we now stand proud with over 20 restaurants nationwide, some part of a shared family, while others being a single, unique concept.

We also represent a portfolio of ventures that extend beyond dining. A boutique hotel. An ancillary valet parking service. Boutique shopping. Event center management. Real estate operations.

Our history is based on the three cornerstones of Chef, Art, and Pour. These are the elements in which we celebrate, both when we founded Chef Art Pour Restaurant Group (CAPRG) and as we continue to open restaurant and bar concepts near and far. Our commitment to chef, art, and pour will never go away.

But like the life cycle of the monarch butterfly, transforming from egg to caterpillar to butterfly, rebirth is in our blood.

Look to the interior of any of our dining concepts. We reclaim. We breathe new life into that which has good bones. And we don't shy away from showing wear, always respecting from which one has come, knowing that is what makes it all so much richer.

Like the monarch butterfly is renowned for its long migration journey, bringing beauty, color, and comfort wherever it goes, the Monven Group will continue to grow and expand, bringing its strength, style, and resilience to new ventures in new markets, while always valuing and returning to its home.
